Everything Starts with Safety
We’re encouraging all SCTCC students to get the COVID-19 vaccination.
- Masks are required for all those on campus, regardless of vaccination status.
- We're recommending that everyone try to keep a distance of 6' from others.

SCTCC complies with the CDC guidance for masking protocols in indoor spaces for counties of significate and high risk of transmission level. Masking protocols are currently in place that require masks to be worn by all individuals while in an SCTCC facility or participating in an SCTCC program. In addition, masks must be worn in outdoor spaces when 3 feet social distancing is not possible. Academic programs may have additional requirements that supersede this standard.
Anyone one that is unable to wear a face mask can apply for an exception. If the exception is granted, the individual must wear an approved face shield in place of the mask. he process for applying for an exception can be found at mask exception process.
Areas considered a health care setting, including the waiting area of the dental clinic, have special mitigating requirements that can be found at https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/ep/surge/crisis/index.html#ppe.
Before coming to campus, ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you have a new cough?
- Do you have shortness of breath?
- Do you feel you have a fever?
- Are you experiencing: lost sense of taste or smell, increased fatigue, new body aches, diarrhea, chills, sore throat, headache, or chest pain?
If you're experiencing any of these, please stay home!
If any student has a confirmed case of COVID-19, please let your instructor know right away and stay in self-quarantine for 14 days. Instructors will let SCTCC Security know of the case, and if that student has been on campus, Security will work to inform those who have been in contact with the person with COVID-19.
Minnesota State has developed a dashboard for reporting the COVID-19 case data that is impacting the colleges, universities, and the system office. The dashboard is updated weekly and serves as a tool to inform campus communities about changes in COVID-19 cases and community spread and aid campus leadership decision making. The CDC recommends keeping a distance of 6' from others.
Regular housekeeping practices have been implemented, including routine cleaning and disinfecting of work surfaces, equipment, tools and machinery, vehicles and areas in the campus environment, including classrooms, labs, restrooms, common areas, break rooms, lunch rooms, and meeting rooms daily. Self-care or personal employee responsibility may be utilized for frequent cleaning and disinfecting practices; conducted in high-touch areas, such as phones, keyboards, touch screens, controls, door handles, elevator panels, railings, copy machines, etc. as needed for personal safety.
When it comes to your classes, the best way to find out if they'll be online or in person is to check "Delivery Method" when registering in eServices. In addition, check the NOTES section. You will learn a lot more specifics about how the class is being offered in the notes section.
If the Delivery Method is blank, that means your class will be face-to-face or in person.
What do each of the Delivery Methods mean?
Online – asynchronous: A traditional online course. You can learn at your own pace and when it's convenient for you by logging in any day at any time to do your work, as long as you complete assignments and exams by their due dates.
Online – synchronous: Class will meet online during dates and times listed.
Mostly Online: Students will have 1-4 meetings face-to-face over the course of the semester. Dates are listed on schedule. Some of these meetings may be for exams.
Blended/Hybrid: Class will meet with a mixture of online and face-to-face. Face-to-face meeting dates are listed on the schedule. Some courses may be divided into groups and students may only have to come to class some of the course days listed. Unless otherwise instructed, students should come to class on campus the first day and teachers will explain how the semester will work. As we get closer to the first day of classes, be sure to monitor your e-mail and D2L for more specific information about your classes.
HyFlex: Students can opt to take the class face-to-face, online, or hybrid, as it works for your schedule. Lectures will be streamed so you can participate synchronously – checking the NOTES section of the class when you register is helpful to learn more about how each class will be offered. This is a very flexible way for students to take classes, as you can move between different ways of learning and find out what works best for you.
Face-to-face: A traditional on campus class that meets in person. Students and instructors in the classroom will follow social distancing guidelines.
No delivery method listed? Your class will be face-to-face or in person.
The info below is a general outline of how classes will look in each division. As stated above, the best way to find out how your classes will be offered is to check your schedule in eServices. You should also check the NOTES section of your courses to make sure you know everything you need to know about the class.
The info we provide can change, and we will do our best to keep it updated. Make sure to watch your email and course schedule.
The business, IT, and education classes will be hybrid but mostly held face-to-face. If there are multiple sections of a class, you can expect at least one of them to be fully online. The best thing to do is make sure to check the Delivery Method when you are registering for class.

With the exception of the Health Information Technology Management (HITM) online program, the Health Sciences programs will return to face-to-face classes.
Please double check the Delivery Method and class notes when you are registering for class.
We will shift to maintain compliance with direction from the State of Minnesota and Minnesota State. We are following the current recommendation to maintain three feet of distancing when possible. For labs requiring less than three foot distancing, we will be using PPE to protect one another.
Please note that the parking places on the North side of the HSB continue reserved for Dental Clinic patients and are not to be used by faculty, staff, or students.
SCTCC Dental Clinic and Labs
Patient safety and strict infection control is a high priority at the SCTCC Dental Clinic. All dental students, faculty and staff working directly with patients will follow COVID-19 PPE guidelines for dental health care providers. These guidelines are obtained from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), the Minnesota Board of Dentistry, and OSAP (Organization for Safety & Asepsis Procedures) Infection Control in Dental Practices.
Aerosol reduction protocols are in place with the use of ADS vacuum systems and the Medify HEPA Air Purification devices.

Many of the face-to-face classes will be hybrid (a mix of online and in-person), and with in-classroom 3' distancing guidelines, more classes will be able to be held in person.

The Academic Advising Center team is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to help students in person or by Zoom, phone, and email. We will be able to meet with you in the method that works best for you!

Testing Services will offer the Accuplacer Assessment test to students in-person on the SCTCC campus. Physical distancing guidelines will be observed.
If you are unable to register using the web registration system, please call the Admissions Office at 320-308-5089 for assistance.
Testing is usually offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Student Senate Cabinet meetings will occur in-person. The Senate Office and student lounge spaces will be open and following any sanitization and distancing guidelines.

Cyclones Cupboard provides FREE nutritious, non-perishable food options to students to help support their health, learning, and success. All SCTCC students are welcome and have access to the Cyclones Cupboard.
To provide a safe environment for our pantry guests and staff, the Cyclones Cupboard is currently doing pre-packaged orders for students as a contactless pickup.
Request a Meal
- Students may fill out a meal request form and schedule a time for food pickup.
- Students are allowed to make one order per week.
- At the current time, the Cyclones Cupboard is operating on a “by request” format for pickup of orders. Current food pickup options will be available on the order form.
- Orders will be fulfilled within 24 hours of request.
Financial Services is open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Financial Services can help you learn more about types of loans and grants, rights and responsibilities of aid recipients, federal and college policies about awards, and steps to get started applying for financial aid. Financial Services can help answer your financial aid and payment questions.

The CAS Hours:

Students can schedule an appointment to work with one of the CAS professional staff (either in person or online tutoring) during the following hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 8-10 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.
- Friday: 8-10 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
Appointments can be made through the CAS website www.sctcc.edu/cas. Students can make either an in-person or online appointment during the appointment scheduling hours. Another option is too stop into the CAS to make an appointment with a front desk employee.
Students can drop in anytime to work whenever the CAS is open. We will try to have student staff available all the times to assist students. When CAS professional staff are not on appointments, they will help with drop in tutors.
We are unsure about space limitations at this point, so we may have to limit the number of people in the CAS. If we do, staff will monitor this number and limit students from entering or limit the time students are in the CAS. Students will still be expected to sign in each time they come to the CAS for tutoring.

Mental Health Services
Your wellness is important to us! SCTCC’s Mental Health Professional, Jeanna Franklin, MS, LPCC, is here to provide free, short-term mental health services to students dealing with a variety of life issues. Students can request an appointment by completing a Mental Health Services Request form. Someone from the Wellness Resource Services team will be in touch with you to discuss scheduling.
The best way to get your textbooks is to order them online through the SCTCC Bookstore. To avoid lines and to get the best selections of used textbooks, we encourage students to buy early and buy online. Please provide a valid street address with all orders, for shipping purposes.
You have 2 ways to pick up your order:
- Pay online, shipped to your home.
- Pay online, pick up in store.
If you’re coming on campus to get your books, please bring a copy of your class schedule to drop off at the Bookstore. Your books will be picked by the Bookstore staff – only Bookstore staff will be allowed in the textbook aisles. PSEO books will be packed by the Bookstore and students will be notified when they can pick them up.

The Commons space will be open for students to use during building hours with physical distancing measures in place. The Common Grounds Coffee Shop is currently open as a student lounge. Coffee can be purchased at the Commons Dining Services.

If you're in need of a laptop to complete your coursework, SCTCC has a limited number of laptops for student academic use.
A limited number of laptops will be available for checkout for student checkout. Laptops may be checked out during regular computer lab hours in the 1-405 Computer Lab, which will be open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

Student parking fees are automatically calculated as part of your fees.
Taking all online classes? Parking is not included in your fees, so no worries about paying for something you're not going to use. If you're on extended internships or other off-campus situations, you can request a waiver.
How to get your Parking Permit
- Register your car at this webpage.
- You'll login with your StarID and password, and enter your car make/model and your license plate number.
- Two days after you register your vehicle, your permit will be ready to pick up.

If you are a returning student and have a parking permit sticker on your car's windshield, you can use that permit.
Parking is enforced starting a couple weeks after the semester start; watch for signage. Students, faculty and staff are all required to display a parking permit.

If you are a returning student and still have your SCTCC ID, you are able to use that ID, even if you haven't been an SCTCC student for a few semesters.
The Veterans Resource Center is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Quiet Room and Lactation Room will be open weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Watch for signage on seating areas and make sure to keep physical distancing in mind.
The lockers on campus won't be available to rent this semester.
